Tréology - Crafts furniture for Award Winning Sugarloaf, Flockhill

Sugarloaf Restaurant at Flockhill was recognised with two awards at this year’s 2025 'Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects' Canterbury Architecture Awards.

Sugarloaf at Flockhill
1. Interior Architecture - WINNER
2. Hospitality - WINNER

As described by the Hierarchy team, “Flockhill’s restaurant, Sugarloaf, strikes a perfect balance between architectural form and its stunning natural surroundings.

Designed to complement, not compete with, the landscape, it frames breathtaking vistas and creates a deep connection to the land.

The grand porte cochère and oversized copper doors set the tone for a space filled with verticality, symmetry, and meticulous attention to detail. From the timber and concrete finishes to the thoughtfully crafted joinery, every element of the design reflects refined elegance.

It’s a space, and fine dining experience, that invites exploration and discovery at every turn.”

It was a pleasure to work with the Hierarchy team and Flockhill to design and craft furniture pieces for this project. Congratulations to everyone involved!

A remarkable reflection of architectural excellence, offering guests a memorable dining experience in a stunning high-country retreat’, and ‘a stunning homage to Flockhill Station’s heritage, exemplifying architectural innovation in harmony with nature.
