Drum Stone Coffee Table

Description

Modern drum coffee table is handcrafted from Timaru bluestone. Created by the eruptions of Mt Horrible to the west of Timaru, a town in the South Island of New Zealand, each piece of the Timaru bluestone (basalt rock) is beautiful and unique. This blue/grey vesicular basalt rock has distinct veins that are not found anywhere else in New Zealand.

The drum features an insert of river rescued tōtara wood. This sustainable ancient tōtara tree has fallen naturally into a river and preserved for hundreds of years under sediment layers before natural water erosion exposes it.

We rescue these trees and continue their journey to become a cherished piece of functional art.

The wood is finished with a hand rubbed, low V.O.C., natural plant oils to bring the stunning grain to life.

Handmade in Christchurch, New Zealand.
