Emerge Side Table

Description

The Emerge side table is a modern organic form made from New Zealand 40,000-year-old ancient swamp kauri, or ancient river rescued matai wood. A sculptural shape made from individual pieces of wood formed together to make a patch work grain pattern. The wood is finished with a hand rubbed, low V.O.C., natural plant oils to bring the stunning grain to life.

Prehistoric kauri trees were buried under a peat swamp by an unexplained act of nature at the end of the last Ice Age, the trees have survived the centuries underground, sealed in an airtight environment that has preserved the timber in perfect condition.

This sustainable timber, naturally felled by nature, is preserved for thousands of years under peat sediment layers before they are extracted and continue their journey to become a cherished piece of art.
