Haast Slab Coffee Table

Description

The Haast live edge slab coffee table is made from an ancient rimu tree (a New Zealand native tree), rescued from a river on the West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand. This sustainable timber, naturally felled by nature, is preserved for hundreds of years under sediment layers before natural water erosion exposes them.

We rescue these trees and continue their journey to become a cherished piece of functional art. The river rescued trees have been carbon dated at over 1500 years old.

The natural organic live edge slab is finished with hand rubbed natural plant oils to bring the gorgeous grain to life. The table base is made from aged brass, acts as a cradle, deliberately simple to avoid competing with the incredibly beautiful grain pattern of the rimu wood top.

Handmade in Christchurch, New Zealand.
