Mica Side Table

Description

The Mica side table is a modern piece made from 40,000-year-old ancient New Zealand swamp kauri and aged blackened steel. This multi-functional side table can be slipped under a sofa or used as a standalone side table. The wood is finished with a hand rubbed, low V.O.C., natural plant oil to bring the stunning grain to life.

Prehistoric kauri trees were buried under a peat swamp by an unexplained act of nature at the end of the last Ice Age, the trees have survived the centuries underground, sealed in an airtight environment that has preserved the timber in perfect condition.

This sustainable timber, naturally felled by nature, is preserved for thousands of years under peat sediment layers before they are extracted and continue their journey to become a cherished piece of art.
