Umber Table - Small Steel Base

Description

The subtle expression of natural beauty and craftsmanship, the Umber table was created by taking a trapezoid form and establishing juxtapositions with the base and top elements.

The Umber table shown is made from matai, a New Zealand native tree, rescued from a river on the West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand. This sustainable timber, naturally felled by nature, is preserved for hundreds of years under sediment layers before natural water erosion exposes them. We rescue these trees and continue their journey to become a cherished piece of functional art.

The trees’ location co-ordinates are inscribed on a stainless steel Tréology tag and attached to the table, connecting the owner to a unique piece of New Zealand nature. The Umber table is finished with hand rubbed, low V.O.C., natural plant oils to bring the stunning grain to life.

Handmade in Christchurch, New Zealand.
